I was pretty depressed yesterday when I got word that I didn’t get the job I was so excited to interview for.  I was also super conflicted on whether I honestly wanted to go for my MLIS.  After looking over some stuff, I realized…I want to do it all!  I am still going to pursue my MLIS starting next Spring, if I get my recommendations in order (that’s another post).  I’m going to get my Oracle SQL DBA certificate and pursue jobs that’ll let me use it.  Yeah, it won’t be a library job but it’s databases!  It’s KINDA library-ish….right? ;-)

There’s also something else.  Read this out loud “Masters of Library and Information Science”.  INFORMATION SCIENCE!  That includes databases and information technology.  I can have my MLIS, be a librarian if I want to, OR be a tech geek somewhere in a cube (or office, swanky!).

I think my mind has finally stopped fighting itself and is looking forward to my Summer classes :-D  Oh…yeah….TWO FREAKING WEEKS LEFT OF SPRING 2012 CLASSES! OMG! *faints*

The way my day has been going…
Wait…what was I doing?

Change out “student” for “customer” and “librarians” for “you guys”.  That sums up the thank you we get once a week.

Can I just say….

*SQUEEEEEEE!!!!!*

November 2013 can’t come soon enough…wait….

That’s my oldest’s 5th birthday…maybe I can wait a little while longer?

Surprise, surprise.

*Sigh* Really, Mother Nature?! REALLY?  I want grass, flowers, chirping birds and my boys out of the house!

Pondering

During my interview on Wednesday, one question stuck with me.  ”Is library science a hobby or a job?”  I didn’t even hesitate and said, “Hobby”.

Ever since then, it’s been bugging me.  Am I racing towards something that I may not even enjoy?  I really like technology, I use it all the time and really like learning how the little twists and quirks work.  BUT…

Oh, I don’t know.  I’m conflicted.

I love books and old things, so that’s why I assumed I’d do well as an archivist.  But it turns out, I’d do super well as a tech geek with a deep love for SQL.

*bangs head*

The Interview!

I know inquiring minds want to know!

Well…I was FREAKING NERVOUS! This was the first time I had ever done an interview since I got my job nearly 8 years ago.  So naturally, it was a tad nerve-wracking for me.

Their company/offices are located at the top of a 12 story building, swanky!  Even then, the height didn’t lower their hospitality at all.  For the total time I was there 1 hour and 15 minutes, I’ve been asked several times by different people walking around if I was being helped and if I wanted anything to drink.

My first interviewer emphasized on my organization and time management.  The second interviewer emphasized on my SQL knowledge and forthcoming Bachelors degree along with my SQL certification.  I’m hoping to hear something within two weeks.

Meanwhile, I’m going to send them both thank you cards, keep me fresh in their minds as a potential candidate for the position.

I REALLY WANT IT BY THE WAY!
